[25] Fearless
About [25] Fearless
Words and Music by David Gilmour / Roger Waters
Rendition by Monty Dicksion
Newly Re-recorded September 8 – September 19, 2022
The slow-paced but strong and sublime song “Fearless,” on Pink Floyd’s album “Meddle,” has always been one of my favorite songs. Amazingly recorded, it is one of those sonic experiences that Pink Floyd became so good at creating.
So it was natural that I would want to try to play that song. But I just had to do something different with it.
I first recorded this song in 1977, and I knew it was a keeper. It’s definitely a fun song to play. So that recording is on my collection called “Summer of ’77 Keepables.”
Like song #24 in this project, “The Pyramid,” I long to put drums to my rendition of Fearless. But again, to me, synthetic drums just wouldn’t do, although I’ve learned a little how to do such a thing, and I’m sure I could have come up with something fun. But no, to me, nothing but the real thing would do for this song. And I didn’t have a real drummer.
But that’s OK. Because this song is so lively and peppy and busy, it kicks butt even without a drummer.
