I always did have my own way of playing this song, mainly because I never knew how to play it right!

Then, as I started working on it for this project, it took on a whole new character.  It changed a song that used to be an intimate, folksy number into a lively piece, and became a good one to use as an opening grabber for the "As Live As I Can Make It" Concert program.

And so I'm anxious to say that when I first began the ALAICMI project, I had only the most rudimentary gear, and this song, being the very first, was really nothing more than an experiment.  And so, since I was practically only playing around with what I had at the time, this song was intended to be funny and humorous, certainly not  meant to be taken seriously by any means.

Funny thing is, the way I play it now, it has actually turned into quite a good and fun song to play.

UPDATE - December 18, 2025

As I wrote earlier (below), this is the very first number in my project that I'm calling "As Live As I Can Make It, phase 1."  I'm now working on my My Songs webpage to list the songs in the order that I recorded them, and the reason I'm listing them that way is because I would say that when one watches the videos in that order it shows how (if I do say so myself) my audio recording and video making skills continued to improve as I worked along from one song video to another.

UPDATE - November 12, 2021

It's funny, as I look back on it ... This is the very first number in my project that I'm calling "As Live As I Can Make It, phase 1."

And as I look back on it, I reflect on how I have had to teach myself everything, nearly from scratch, about making a digital multi-track recording.

Now, as I'm writing this, it's a year later to the day. And I reflect on how, since song #2 in this project, I've been using Pro Tools mainly over Audacity, a new, more robust computer, and so many other things I've learned.

It's a year now into this project, I'm just over 1/3 of the way through it - 11 songs completed. I hope I'm starting to get better at this.

Song #5 (The Last Mountain On The Right), was when I first began shooting myself playing, and all I had at the time was my Galaxy S7 phone for a camera. Next month, I expect to have my first 4K camcorder (with phases 2, 3 and 4 of this project, I'll need 4 cameras).
